A novel distributed privacy‐preserving control and data collection method for IoT‐centric microgrids

The privacy of electricity consumers has become one the most critical subjects in designing smart meters and their proliferation. In this work, a multilayer architecture been proposed for anonymous data collection from meters, which provides: (1) anonymity information third-party consumers; (2) Secure communication to utility provider network billing purposes; (3) Online control sharing end-users; (4) Low costs based on available Internet things (IoT) protocols. core elements are, first, digital twin equivalent cyber-physical system and, second, Tangle distributed ledger with IOTA cryptocurrency. architecture, models are updated real-time by received trusted nodes anonymously. A small-scale laboratory prototype developed using dSPACE SCALEXIO simulator open-source software tools prove feasibility solution. numerical results confirm that after few seconds anomaly detection, microgrid was fully stabilized around its operating point less than 5% deviation during transition time.
